When there's people like this scheming rotten salad lady walking around, there's no question why customer service can take on an adversarial tone. Let this be a reminder to treat retail workers with kindness- they have to deal with Karens every day, and it's not an easy job to take on.
My time in retail was long enough to understand that there are people who are always going to be impossible to please, and they enjoy making it everyone else's problem.
